Ikegami Seminar in Moscow

On sunny April morning of April 26 Moscow representative office of the Japanese company E-Globaledge Corporation organized a seminar- presentation "New Universal Ikegami Equipment for solution of any creative tasks in the frames of various budgets: television, cinema and multimedia" at the WTC. During the event a wide range of questions concerning modern systems of shooting equipment, features of new compression algorithms and technical workflow.
Guests of the seminar were shown studio camcorders of high definition series GFCam, Editcam HD and control monitors. After the seminar, Deputy General Director of E-Globaledge Corporation Mr. Yamamoto kindly agreed to answer to the questions of the Chief-editor Mr. Sergei Shubin.
- Please comment today's event. For what purpose it was organized?
- In recent years, Ikegami, unfortunately, did not present new products to the market. The situation changed this year when Ikegami showed it’’s new solutions at NAB'2011. Thus, the basic concept of the seminar was the presentation of new equipment in Moscow for those who could not attend NAB exhibition in Las Vegas. In the future we plan to continue the tradition of such seminars in Moscow, where we will report the latest information about our new products, shown at NAB.
- You have presented here a wide range of equipment. On what equipment would you like to accent the attention of Russian users?
- Several new Ikegami’s products were demonstrated and announced at the seminar. Among them it’s necessary to mark out high-speed HD camera Hi-Motion II and camcorder Unicam HD HDK-97A. This year new systems for 3D and updating GFCam model line were not shown. However Ikegami considers these directions as important as well.
- You shown the camera for high-speed shooting, presented jointly with a Japanese company NAC. What is the reason for Ikegami appearance in this sector of market?
- The cameras of this type have become quite popular and are in great demand in the broadcast market lately. For example, they are used for sports events like Olympic Games, football, figure skating, and others. Therefore, Ikegami has begun to develop such equipment. Unfortunately, Ikegami has not had enough experience of solutions for high-speed shooting, so we applied to the NAC company. It has been successfully operating in this area for a long time, but it’s little known on the market of broadcasting equipment. Through this cooperation we managed to create the perfect HD camera for Slow Motion shooting.
- After Moscow seminar you are going to Belarus. For what purpose this "journey" is organized?
- Ikegami company successfully sells it’s product on the Russian market for over thirty years. This year it was decided to promote products under Ikegami brand in the CIS. We expect that in countries such as Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, we will have several large-scale projects, so we are going to hold a series of similar seminars there.
- In connection with tragic events that took place in March this year in Japan, many users are anxious about possible disruptions in the supply of equipment and components from Japanese manufacturers. What can you tell your Russian counterparts on this problem?
- Fortunately, Ikegami plant has not suffered and production process was not violated. We have some difficulties with the delivery of some parts, as many Japanese manufacturers have problems. However the plants are recovering and resume work, and I am sure Ikegami will not have serious problems. In any case, the company continues to develop it’s production and delivers the equipment without delay.
We believe that Japan will overcome this tragedy with the help of the international community. Words of support from our Russian friends gives the hope to us, and we are very grateful to all Russians and the Russian government for the assistance for Japan.
